Egypt partners with 30 ICT firms to boost ‘Digilians’ initiative

Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Egyptian Military Academy have signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with 30 local and international ICT companies to implement the “Digilians” presidential initiative.

According to MCIT the Digilians initiative is a fully funded scholarship program designed to train young Egyptians in information and communication technologies (ICTs). 

The MoUs were signed by the Vice ICT Minister for Infrastructure and Digital Transformation, Raafat Hindy, and representatives of 30 local and global ICT companies that serve as the initiative’s industry partners. 

These companies include EMC Egypt Service Center Limited (Dell), Fortinet, Google, Huawei Egypt, IBM Egypt, Microsoft, Palo Alto Networks, Vodafone Egypt, Al Ahly Momkn, Brightskies, Cloudflare, Etisal International, Fawry, Fingerprint Consultancy, 5DVR, Fixed Solutions, Geidea, GrowAxis, iConcept, Innovative Digital Solutions (IDS), iHomeFuture, InnerWin, Interface Tech, International for Information Technology, ITechPro, Matloub, MTS Enterprise, Order, 2B Systems and Vision (VGN SEC) Platform.

Digilians initiative’s ins and outs

The MCIT said that the initiative comprises a four-month Intensive Diploma, a nine-month Specialized Diploma, a 12-month Professional Master’s, and a 24-month Master of Science.

“Digilians offers a broad selection of academic tracks for applicants to choose from, covering various technology-related disciplines, such as software development, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, networks, technological infrastructure, cybersecurity, embedded systems, electronic systems, and digital arts,” MCIT said in a statement.

Egypt’s ICT Minister Amr Talaat relayed the country’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s message that the initiative aims to develop a new generation of skilled ICT professionals who will help Egypt keep pace with global dynamics and the rapid changes within the ICT sector, as well as the growing reliance on ICTs as a fundamental pillar of development projects. 

He added that the accelerating adoption of technology across various aspects of life has driven increased global demand for qualified ICT professionals.

Talaat underlined that the Digilians initiative is designed to prepare a new generation of ICT specialists equipped with a comprehensive skill set aligned with the labor market’s demands. 

He noted that these skills go beyond technical expertise, encompassing soft skills, language proficiency and continuous learning. 

He added that the program also strengthens participants’ capabilities through hands-on experience and on-the-job training, giving them practical insight into modern work management systems.
