Italy asserts global leadership in components and accessories at Metstrade

The Italian nautical sector once again demonstrated its excellence in innovation and production, dominating Amsterdam’s Metstrade, the leading global trade fair for components and accessories, according to a statement from Confindustria Nautica. The group of 82 Italian companies, present in the Italian Pavilion (Hall 12 and Hall 8) thanks to the collaboration between Confindustria Nautica and ITA (Italian Trade Agency), offered a comprehensive overview of national manufacturing excellence. Italian companies once again confirmed their international leadership in the design and production of high-tech components and accessories, characterized by quality, reliability, and distinctive design.

The collaboration between Confindustria Nautica and ICE Agenzia has been defined as a “virtuous model of the country system,” essential for presenting a cohesive, competitive image capable of enhancing Italy’s distinctive traits (innovation, design, sustainability).

Piero Formenti, president of Confindustria Nautica, described the show as a “privileged observatory” for engaging with industry professionals and promoting the industry’s needs. Formenti emphasized that the strength of Made in Italy lies in its “unique supply chain of components and accessories.”

Vice President Alessandro Gianneschi reinforced the analysis by pointing to the components sector as the true “litmus test of the market.” According to Gianneschi, the post-show analysis confirms that Made in Italy products maintain their solidity, reputation, and capacity for innovation.

The Amsterdam meeting, the association continues, was also crucial for institutional dialogue at the European level. Confindustria Nautica participated in the meetings of the EBI (European Boating Industry) federation and ICOMIA.

Fabio Planamente, vice president of Confindustria Nautica, welcomed the European Commission’s recent decision to allocate, for the first time, specific funds to the nautical sector. These resources are directed toward the development of marinas and the sustainability of the sector, confirming the strategic importance of the Italian industry on a continental level.

At the regional level, Liguria International (Liguria Region) has confirmed its interest in maintaining its presence at the Mets, recognizing the Blue Economy as a strategic sector to support with the aim of generating economic development and new jobs.

Finally, the centennial celebrations for Veleria San Giorgio (founded in 1926) were inaugurated during the fair, as noted by CEO Anton Francesco Albertoni. The next national gathering of nautical entrepreneurs will be held on December 11, 2025, in Rome, at the Chamber of Deputies, for the Confindustria Nautica Members’ Assembly, which will focus on the industry’s “new paradigms.”
